Moving Johnston First Step in Isles Cap Space Solution:
The New York Islanders are out of cap space, and moving enforcer Ross Johnston could be the first step in creating some.
Devils Sign Nosek; Might Not Be Done:
The New Jersey Devils signed veteran center Tomas Nosek to a one-year deal on Wednesday, and reports are saying they’re still on the market for a new goalie.
Lots of Interest in Jake DeBrusk:
A couple of weeks ago, I suggested the Islanders look into acquiring Jake DeBrusk from the Boston Bruins. According to an NHL Scout, many other teams are keeping their eyes on the winger as he enters the final year of his contract.
Hakstol Staying in Seattle:
After leading the Seattle Kraken to their first-ever playoff appearance last season, Dave Hakstol will remain the team’s head coach for the next three seasons.
More From National Hockey Now:
San Jose: The Erik Karlsson sweepstakes is down to two teams, and one seems to have a leg-up, according to Elliotte Friedman.
Vegas: Brett Howden and the Golden Knights avoid arbitration and agree to a new contract extension.
Calgary: Mikael Backlund is willing to sign a long-term extension to stay with the Flames, but they have to prove they’re still a cup contender before he does.
