The Bridgeport Islanders announced on Tuesday that they signed defenseman Trevor Cosgrove and forward Ashton Calder to AHL contracts.

Cosgrove played in his first professional season in 2022-23. He spent the majority of the year playing for the Worcester Railers of the ECHL, registering 21 points with five goals while also appearing in nine games for Bridgeport.

A native of Exeter, New Hampshire, Cosgrove attended Colgate University for four years before finishing his collegiate career at Northern Michigan University in 2021-22.

Like Cosgrove, Calder made his professional debut last season and helped the Florida Everblades win the Kelly Cup as champions of the ECHL. In 17 playoff games, Calder scored six points with three goals.

Prior to turning pro, Calder completed his final collegiate season playing for Penn State University, scoring 17 points with 10 goals. Calder also attended The University of North Dakota and Lake Superior State University while in college.

With their new contracts, Cosgrove and Calder will now join Bridgeport on a full-time basis this year under new head coach Rick Kowalsky.

The Bridgeport Islanders missed the Calder Cup Playoffs last year after finishing the regular season with a record of 34-30-7. They will open their new schedule on the road against the Rochester Americans on Friday, Oct. 13, and play their home opener on Saturday, Oct. 21, when they welcome the Utica Comets to Total Mortgage Arena.
