New York Islanders
Islanders Game 44 Preview at Winnipeg Jets: Notes, Lines & How To Watch
After an abysmal performance last night, the road only gets tougher for the New York Islanders (19-14-10) as they visit the soaring Winnipeg Jets (28-10-4) at Canada Life Centre tonight in the second half of a back-to-back. Here’s what you need to know before puck drop.
Projected Lineup:
Lee-Horvat-Barzal
Engvall-Nelson-Palmieri
Holmstrom-Pageau-Gauthier
Martin-Fasching-Clutterbuck
Romanov-Dobson
Pelech-Mayfield
Reilly-Aho
Sorokin
Appleby
Last Time Out:
A bad final minute on the first game of the road trip snowballed into a bad sixty in the second.
The Islanders came out flat against the Minnesota Wild on Monday night in an inexcusable, effortless performance that marked a new low in a year that, at times, has felt bottomless.
The Opponent:
Sitting atop the Central Division, the Winnipeg Jets are flying high, with wins in eight of their last 10 games.
To lift their spirits even further, the Jets welcome their leading goal-scorer, Kyle Connor, back to the lineup tonight for the first time in six weeks. However, Winnipeg will also be without its leading point generator after placing Mark Schieffele on injured reserve earlier today.
In goal, the venerable Connor Hellebuyck will get the go-ahead against the Islanders in his 32nd start of the season. With a record of 21-7-3, the former Vezina Trophy winner has the league’s top GAA and save percentage of any goalie with at least 20 starts.
In their second year under head coach Rick Bowness, the Jets have the NHL’s 23rd-ranked power play and the 26th-ranked penalty kill.
How To Watch:
Puck drop between the Islanders and Jets from Canada Life Centre is scheduled for just past 8 p.m. EST. The game is available to watch on MSGSN or streamed on MSG Plus or ESPN Plus for out-of-market viewers. 88.7 FM WRHU will produce the radio feed of the game, which can also be heard on 1050 AM ESPN or 103.9 FM WRCN.
