Boston, MA– It appears Pierre Engvall will not be in the lineup for the New York Islanders tonight as they play the Boston Bruins.

Engvall remained out on the ice following the Islanders’ optional morning skate at TD Garden, which is a strong indication he will be a healthy scratch come game time.

“You look at all aspects,” Islanders head coach Lane Lambert said of taking players out of the lineup. “Sometimes you don’t come up with anything individually, but there just has to be a decision made. Sometimes, there’s some individual stuff that might require some attention.”

During the third period on Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild, Engvall made a costly turnover in his own zone that quickly led to a back-breaking goal for the Islanders.

Engvall has yet to score a goal for the Islanders this season and has accounted for six assists in 11 games.

As for the recently injured Bo Horvat, he returned to practice this morning and is considered a game-time decision this evening.

Horvat sat out the game against Minnesota and the last three days of practice after blocking a shot in the Islanders’ loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Nov. 4.

“He’s been great for us,” Mathew Barzal said of Horvat. “We need that right now. He’s a goal scorer, and we need to we need to score goals. I don’t know what the status is right now, but obviously, he makes us a better team.”

Julien Gauthier will play in his second game of the season if neither Horvat nor Engvall are in the lineup.

The game between the Islanders and Bruins will start just after 7 p.m. EST.
