Last Time Out:

The Islanders have last three of their last four games, the most recent of which came on Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild.

Tied at two in the third period, a questionable penalty called on Noah Dobson gave Minnesota the break it needed as Kiril Kaprizov fired off a one-timer from the right faceoff circle on the power play to put the Wild ahead by one.

Forty-two seconds later, the deficit doubled with a goal from Joel Eriksson Ek off of Engvall’s costly turnover.

Oliver Wahlstrom scored his first goal of the season in the loss, while Semyon Varlamov made 27 saves on 31 shots against.

The Opponent:

Despite several major departures during the offseason, the Boston Bruins are once again the class of the Eastern Conference so far this year.

The Bruins occupy first place in the Atlantic Division with 21 points and are coming off a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.

David Pastrnak leads the Bruins in points in goals scored, while as a team, Boston is scoring 3.17 goals per game.

The Bruins own the NHL’s top shorthanded unit, having killed off 94% of the penalties they’ve taken this year. Their power play ranks 21st.

Boston enters tonight’s game depleted, especially on the backend.

Charlie McAvoy will miss tonight’s game as he serves the final game of a suspension he’s serving for delivering a hit to the head of Florida Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson on Oct. 30.
