Brock Nelson isn’t ready to put his skates away in storage for the summer just yet.

With the New York Islanders season now over, Nelson was officially added to the roster of Team USA for the 2024 IIHF Men’s World Championship on Sunday.

A native of Warroad, Minnesota, Nelson has been part of USA Hockey since his days in college and first represented his country in 2011, winning a bronze medal in that year’s World Junior Championships.

This will be Nelson’s fifth time playing in the Men’s World Championships. He won a silver medal for the United States in 2017 while serving as an alternate captain. In 32 career games at the annual international tournament, Nelson has totaled 28 points with 16 goals.

Nelson is coming off his third straight 30-goal season with the Islanders, as he once again led the team this past season with 34 goals.

The 2024 IIHF Men’s Ice Hockey World Championships will take place in Czechia from May 10 through May 26.
