The news keeps flowing as the New York Islanders and the rest of the NHL quickly approach the noon opening of free agency on Wednesday.

All eyes are on the situation with Gabriel Landeskog, but the Islanders have been linked to plenty of other players as Wednesday has approached. In fact, one name that continues to be connected to the Islanders has been Zach Parise and it appears even more signs are pointing to a sort of homecoming.

Parise has visited Long Island recently, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie. Parise reportedly has other offers to mull over, but word that he has visited the New York Islanders is another sign pointing to Parise playing for the Isles next season.

Last week a league source was so confident Parise would be an Islander next season, he told NYI Hockey Now’s Andy Graziano, “I would fall off my chair if he ends up anywhere else.” Parise would likely end up on the Islanders’ third line alongside Jean-Gabriel Pageau if he does indeed sign with the team.

Parise was bought out by the Minnesota Wild, along with Ryan Suter, earlier this month. Parise only had seven goals and 18 points for Minnesota last season, but the move to Long Island would give him a bigger role than he had with his former team.
