After not playing each other last season due to the COVID restrictions, the rivalry between the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs should heat up this season based on the offseason transaction board. The Bruins signed veteran forward Nick Foligno after he finished last season with the Leafs as a trade deadline acquisition, and Toronto has signed Kase and Nick Ritchie to free agent contracts. Jack Eichel’s agents said Friday they expected the center to be traded by the Buffalo Sabres by now. “The process is not working,” agents Peter Fish and Peter Donatelli said in a statement. “As previously stated, we fully anticipated a trade by the start of the NHL free agency period (Wednesday).” (NHL)

The National Hockey League today released the following statement: “The League was made aware this evening of a post on social media alleging that San Jose Sharks Player Evander Kane bet on NHL games. The integrity of our game is paramount and the League takes these allegations very seriously. We intend to conduct a full investigation and will have no further comment at this time.” The Sharks also released a statement. (NHL)
