EAST MEADOW, NY– The New York Islanders are back in action Tuesday night following the holiday break as they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Puck drop is slated for 7:30 PM ET at UBS Arena. The New York Islanders will be in their Fisherman Reverse Retro jerseys.

The New York Islanders held an optional skate, which did not provide the positive injury updates the team needs right now.

All members of the Injured Reserve party were not on the ice. Only Kyle Palmieri and Cal Clutterbuck are skating, as Adam Pelech and Semyon Varlamov have not yet.

Brock Nelson, who was injured during the Islanders’ 5-1 win over the Florida Panthers, was on the ice along with Casey Cizikas, who was day-to-day after suffering an injury last Thursday against the New York Rangers in the 5-3 loss.

Head coach Lane Lambert said both are game-time decisions, but after speaking with the players, they are ready to go.

Simon Holmstrom, who was also injured Friday night after getting hit in the knee, is day-to-day.

Forwards Aatu Räty, Hudson Fasching, and defenseman Parker Wotherspoon were on the ice, as their transactions to the Bridgeport Islanders were merely paper transactions.

All three will be in the lineup.

Ilya Sorokin was the first netminder off the ice as he wil take his 100th career NHL appearance tonight.
