WATCH: New York Islanders Score 3 Goals in 31 Seconds, 5 in the First
After being shut out by the Seattle Kraken last Wednesday, New York Islanders head coach Barry Trotz changed up his lines. They worked early and often as his team lit the lamp not once, not twice, but three times in 31 seconds.
They had scored a total of 26 first-period goals in 39 games coming into this game. The Islanders ended the first period with five and led 5-1.
Zach Parise got the New York Islanders offense going just 3:25 into the first period and the offense just kept coming. Then came a stick deflection by Brock Nelson and a skate deflection by Ander Lee. The first three goals came in a span of 31 seconds.
