Islanders Game 3 Preview vs. New Jersey Devils: Lines, Best Bets Who and How To Watch
East Meadow, NY–The New York Islanders have won back-to-back games to open a season for the first time since 2014-15. Tonight, they’ll shoot to establish their first winning streak of the season tonight against the New Jersey Devils.
Mayfield Out Again:
Scott Mayfield was back on the ice at Islanders optional skate this morning for the first time since blocking a shot off his left ankle against the Sabres last week. However, Mayfield’s mobility was limited, and he will not be in the lineup tonight against New Jersey.
Projected Lineup:
Barzal-Horvat-Holmstrom
Engvall-Nelson-Palmieri
Lee-Pageau-Fasching
Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck
Pelech-Dobson
Romanov-Pulock
Bolduc-Aho
Sorokin
Varlamov
Last Time Out:
The Islanders made easy work of the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday night, picking up a 1-0 win behind a 14-save shutout performance from Ilya Sorokin.
The Opponent:
Despite being highly touted as a top team within the Eastern Conference during the preseason, the New Jersey Devils have dropped two of their first three games, both in ugly fashion.
To try and remedy some change, Devils head coach Lindy Ruff is shuffling his top two lines, switching Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier.
Regardless of the Devils’ early struggles, the Islanders are aware they’re still a dangerous team.
“Against a high-flying Devils team, the biggest thing is being able to manage the puck,” Bo Horvat said. “[We need to] be quick on the transitions and play well defensively. The more you limit their offensive guys’ time and space, the better for us.”
Best Bets:
Each matchup between the Islanders and Devils last year was a high-scoring affair. Expect more of the same tonight and bet the over by using odds from Draft Kings.
Who To Watch:
Noah Dobson was atrocious defensively on opening night but was quite solid versus Arizona. Which version will we see tonight against New Jersey?
How To Watch:
Puck drop between the Islanders and Devils from UBS Arena is scheduled for just past 7:30 p.m. EST. The game can be seen on MSG Network and streamed on MSG+ or ESPN+ for out-of-market viewers. 88.7 FM WRHU will broadcast the radio feed of the game, which can also be heard on 98.7 FM ESPN and 103.9 FM WRCN.
