Elmont, NY– In one final tune-up before the regular season, the New York Islanders will play their preseason finale against the New Jersey Devils tonight at UBS Arena.

Palmieri In The Lineup:

Islanders head coach Lane Lambert announced pregame that Kyle Palmieri will be in the lineup for his first action of the preseason tonight. Palmieri returned to practice earlier this week after missing the first week and a half of training camp with an undisclosed injury.

“I’m looking to see him play his game,” Lambert said. “He’s a great asset for the position that he’s playing in, and we’ll see where he goes from there. He needs to get some game action.”

As for the rest of the lineup, the Islanders had an optional morning skate at Northwell Health Ice Center this morning with limited participation. Those who partook and can be locked in to play against the Devils tonight are Bo Horvat, Brock Nelson, Matt Martin, Adam Pelech and Ilya Sorokin.

Expect the Islanders to dress an NHL-caliber lineup tonight after they played mostly prospects against the Flyers on Thursday.

“This first game that I’ve been a part of [this preseason] that will be more or less be the whole roster,” Martin said. “Now is about the time when the group kind of comes together. You’re with who you’re going to be with for the most part, and you really kind of dial it in with your roles and responsibilities.”

19 Prospects Cut From Camp:

Many of the prospects who played against the Flyers last night and have been with the Islanders throughout most of training camp were officially cut from the roster earlier this afternoon. In total, 19 players were cut and are either heading down to AHL Bridgeport or are being placed on waivers.

Ending On A Good Note:

The Islanders have dropped their last two preseason contests entering tonight, first against the Devils on Oct. 2 in Newark and then again last night at the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Islanders showcased poor defensive structure in each matchup, making tonight’s game all the more important.

“We’re looking now to start nailing our game down,” Lambert said. “Our detail and our structure is our strength. I think up until now, we’ve done an okay job, but we need to do a better job, and so that’s what we’re looking for.”

How To Watch:

Puck drop between the Islanders and Devils at UBS Arena is scheduled for just after 7 p.m. The game can be seen on MSG Network and streamed online on MSG Plus. There will not be a radio broadcast of the game.
