NYI Hockey Now: After waiting for almost seems like forever, Nazem Kadri has finally found a home — and it’s not with the New York Islanders. He has chosen the Calgary Flames, as the Islanders miss out on another free agent. New York Islanders.

NYI Hockey Now: It’s not so much that the New York Islanders missed out on Nazem Kadri, as we discussed previously given the positional realignment that would have been needed. It’s more about the Islanders inability to bolster the offense as time is ticking to make upgrades. New York Islanders.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Pittsburgh Penguins made two three hirings on Thursday.. First, the Penguins elevated assistant coach Todd Reirden to associate head coach and gave him a new two-year contract. Washington Hockey Now: The Washington Capitals went into 2022 NHL Free Agency with several items on their to-do list, as well as a major void to address down the middle. One of the options on the market was Nazem Kadri. And finally, after over a month on the market, the 31-year-old signed with the Calgary Flames. Given how the whole situation with Kadri ended up playing out, the Capitals considerably dodged a bullet for more reasons than one. Washington Capitals.

Detroit Hockey Now: The first branch from the Matthew Tkachuk trade tree has taken root. The Calgary Flames sent the conditional 2025 first-round pick they received from the Florida Panthers to the Montreal Canadiens in order to dump the contract of Sean Monahan and create the cap room necessary to sign Nazem Kadri. They received ‘future considerations’ in return. Florida Panthers.

Vegas Hockey Now: We have now entered the semifinal rounds for the 2022 World Junior Championship. Four countries remain, but the United States is not one of them.
