The New York Islanders were without one of their best defenseman and a top-nine forward on Tuesday night in Florida. Ryan Pulock missed the team’s final game of a 13-game road trip due to an upper-body injury and Josh Bailey was placed in COVID protocol.

The New York Islanders announced the news just after warmups began at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise. The Islanders were facing the Florida Panthers for the second time in a month and playing their second game of a back-to-back.

Pulock was seen grimacing in pain on Monday night after blocking a shot in the Islanders’ 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was slow to get up, but didn’t leave the bench. Pulock will be re-evaluated once the team returns to Long Island.

Bailey is going into COVID protocol for the second time in the past two seasons. He was also in protocol last year following a COVID scare with his son.
