Ilya Sorokin was the first goaltender off the ice at Islanders’ morning skate as he is the likely starter against the Avalanche with Semyon Varlamov out (day-to-day, lower-body). Cory Schneider (emergency call-up) will back Sorokin up.
For the Avalanche, per Adrian Dater, Avalanche will start Alexandar Georgiev in goal tonight, and welcome Kurtis MacDermid back to the lineup. Bednar said the Avalanche missed MacDermid’s “presence.”
