Last Time Out

The Islanders gave up their lead twice in the third period to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday but survived the night behind Mathew Barzal’s four points, which included the overtime winner.

Semyon Varlamov kept the Islanders in the game by stopping 39 of 43 shots. It was Varlamov’s fourth win this season and 63rd as an Islander, elevating him to 10th on the franchise leaderboard.

Sam Reinhart is having himself a season, leading the Panthers in both points (28) and goals (15).

Anthony Stolarz is expected to make his sixth start of the year in goal tonight for Florida. He has a 1.99 GAA and a .929 save percentage.

The Panthers boast the NHL’s 22nd-ranked power play and 13th-ranked penalty kill in their second season under head coach Paul Maurice.
