Trotz fires Hynes in first decision as Preds GM:
First reported by Kevin Weekes, John Hynes has been fired as the head coach of the Nashville Predators and is expected to be replaced by Andrew Brunette. The coaching change in Nashville is the first major decision made by new Predators general manager and former Islanders head coach Barry Trotz.

Carbery named Caps’ new head coach:
The Washington Capitals have filled their head coaching vacancy by hiring Spencer Carbery.

According to Pierre LeBrun, Carbery’s contract in Washington is for four years.
Carbery served as an assistant coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs for the last two seasons. However, the 41-year-old isn’t new to Washington’s organization. He spent three years as the head coach of the franchise’s AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears.
