East Meadow, NY– For the second straight day, Bo Horvat missed New York Islanders practice, putting his status for tonight’s game against the Minnesota Wild in question.

At practice yesterday, Islanders head coach said Horvat was considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury after he blocked a shot off his left ankle during the third period of Saturday’s overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

The shot from Carolina’s Brady Skjei initially hobbled Horvat and sent him down the tunnel before returning to finish the game. Afterward, however, Horvat was still walking with a severe limp in the Islanders’ dressing room.

Horvat is the Islanders’ second-leading scorer so far this season, with nine points and four goals in the first year of his new eight-year contract.

The Islanders didn’t run lines at practice this morning. However, it’s expected that if Horvat is unavailable against Minnesota, Mathew Barzal will move back over to center, and Oliver Wahlstrom will slot in on the team’s top line.

The Islanders and Wild drop the puck at UBS Arena tonight at 7:30 p.m.
