Maxim Tsyplakov Suspended for Three Games; Roster Updates

Friday afternoon, the NHL Department of Player Safety concluded its hearing with Maxim Tsyplakov and suspended him for three games.
Tsyplakov, 26, is a rookie in his first NHL season, and this is his first-ever suspension. The hit blew up last night as the New York Islanders took on the Philadelphia Flyers. During the first period, Flyers forward Ryan Poehling cut into the middle toward the low slot and sent a shot on goal. Tsyplakov, reading the play, cut in and delivered the massive blow.
After no call came on the ice, the referees initiated a review and did not hand down any penalty to Tsyplakov.

Flyers Head Coach John Tortorella took serious exception to the no call and lit up the referees for it:

Tsyplakov, if he does not appeal, is eligible to return Saturday, January 25 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Roster Fallout: Fasching to IR, Gatcomb Recalled
As a result of the Tsyplakov suspension, the Islanders will have to adjust their lineup accordingly. Prior to the suspension, the team announced Hudson Fasching would be placed on injured reserve. The corresponding move is the recall of Marc Gatcomb from the Bridgeport Islanders. Gatcomb debuted in the NHL on Tuesday against Ottawa before being sent down.
Additionally, Simon Holmstrom returned to practice in a full-contact jersey courtesy of Newsday. Seemingly, Holmstrom is ready to go and Head Coach Patrick Roy labelled him as a 50/50 chance.
Marcus Hogberg will start in net for the Islanders tomorrow, his third start in four games.
Without Tsyplakov, it’s expected Holmstrom will shift into his place in practice today, beside Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Casey Cizikas.
