Islanders Gm 49: 2 Critical Players Likely Return vs. Maple Leafs

TORONTO — After a few days off following a 5-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, the New York Islanders (23-20-5) are up in Toronto, as they face off against the Maple Leafs (28-11-8). Puck drop is slated for 7 PM ET at Scotiabank Center.

The New York Islanders were on the ice Monday morning as there’s a possibility some long-term injuries come to an end. Head coach Lane Lambert did share that he has a few game-time decisions, citing that Noah Dobson is dealing with a little something, “so, we’ll see.”

MORNING SKATE UPDATES

The New York Islanders did not take line rushes.

Ilya Sorokin was in the starter’s crease and was the first goaltender off, as he will make his 35th start of the season.

Kyle Palmieri, for the first time since his injury, played on the power play, as he was the one-time option on the left side of power-play one.

Adam Pelech continued to take strides, as he took part in the penalty kill yet again.

Both came off with the regulars, as Ross Johnston and Dennis Cholowski stayed on after as they will likely serve as the scratches. Both were activated off IR as well.

Hudson Fasching has been placed on IR and Dennis Cholowski has been returned to Bridgeport.

Prospect Samuel Bolduc was on the ice and could very well make his NHL debut.

ISLANDERS NOTES

Tonight, the New York Islanders visit the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second of three meetings between the two clubs this season. The last time these teams met, Noah Dobson scored, and Josh Bailey tied the game with less than three minutes remaining, then Anthony Beauvillier recorded the game-winner in overtime to help the Islanders capture a 3-2 victory in Toronto.

The Islanders have collected points in six of their last seven matchups against an Atlantic Division opponent (4-1-2). Tonight, they will look to earn their 11th road win of the season and capture their first win in four games.
