After struggling against the New York Rangers on Monday night, a 4-1 loss in preseason game no. 1,  the New York Islanders have a quick turnaround as they are in New Jersey to face the Devils on Tuesday.



There will be no morning skate today, just select player availability.

Here are the New York Islanders and NHL stories to know for today.

Florida Hockey Now: The Florida Panthers opened the 2022-23 preseason with a 4-3 overtime win over the host Nashville Predators on Monday afternoon at Bridgestone Arena. Captain Sasha Barkov got the win for the Panthers as he scored just before the end of overtime. Florida Panthers.

Detroit Hockey Now: Detroit Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde will be having a checking line this season. However, he wants nothing to do with any thought of assembling a Czech line. Detroit Red Wings.

Montreal Hockey Now: A Montreal Canadiens roster filled with some of the club’s top prospects showed some fight against the New Jersey Devils despite falling short 2-1. In such a low-scoring game, the devil’s in the details; and there were a lot of details. Montreal Canadiens.

Vegas Hockey Now: The Vegas Golden Knights were defeated in their second preseason game Monday night in overtime by the Los Angeles Kings 2-1. Jack Eichel scored the Golden Knight’s only goal in the first period. Kevin Fiala and Adrian Kempe scored for the Kings, with Kempe getting the game-winner on the powerplay. Vegas Hockey Now.

Vancouver Hockey Now: They’ve had a plan all summer. They’ve been counting the days. The feisty Canucks line of Bo Horvat centering Conor Garland and Vasily Podkolzin, regardless of which wing the latter two play on, is likely to start the season as the Canucks most effective. And that’s regardless of the hand injury to Brock Boeser that will keep that likely top-line winger out of the line-up for a month. Vancouver Canucks.

Calgary Hockey Now: The first person that comes to mind when you think of that aggressive forecheck and dogged determination should be Andrew Mangiapane. And on Monday, the Flames got their bulldog back from a brief injury layoff. Calgary Flames.
