Islanders Sign Long Island Native to ATO, Entry-Level Deal

The New York Islanders remain busy in the college free-agent market. They’ve already officially signed three other players, including the highly-touted Gleb Veremyev.
However, it doesn’t appear to be stopping there. The Islanders and Bridgeport Islanders have inked Long Island Native Ross Mitton to an Amateur-Tryout Agreement. Sources confirm that Mitton has signed a one-year contract for next fall with Bridgeport.
Mitton, 24, played this past season with the University of Maine, champions of Hockey East over the likes of Cole Eiserman and BU. At Maine, he scored four goals and 11 points in 32 games.
Mitton played the previous four seasons with Colgate University, registering 11 goals and 30 points in 34 games in 2023-24, all while wearing an ‘A’ on his jersey. This past summer, Mitton attended the Detroit Red Wings 2024 Development Camp
Growing up on Long Island, Mitton attended and played for Portledge High School and the Long Island Royals before departing to play in the USHL with the Fargo Force, Lincoln Stars, and Omaha Lancers.
He joins Marshall Warren as a Long Island Native to go to the USHL, then college, and eventually signing with the Islanders. Mitton and Warren played together on both Portledge and the New Jersey Avalanche.
