Fanatics Reverse Retro Leak Confirms Fisherman Logo Report?
On July 25, NYI Hockey Now learned that the New York Islanders 2022-23 Reverse Retro jersey would encompass the Fisherman logo theme, a logo that the Islanders donned during the dark ages of 1995-1997.
Well, a leak by Fanatics, initially caught by sportslogo.net and our San Jose Hockey Now correspondent Sheng Peng, gave us an image of what very well could be the designs of every team’s Reverse Retro jersey, including the New York Islanders.
And it is indeed the Fisherman.
The New York Islanders organization, over the last few years, despite the outcry of many fans who cannot stand the Fisherman logo given the period of hockey that it represents, has been pushing this logo and its apparel at the UBS team store as well as at their practice facility at Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow.
The Fisherman logo and jerseys are a favorite amongst fans who did not witness a combined record of 51-91-22 (22 ties) and two last-place finishes in the Atlantic Division from 1995-1997.

These fan base-splitting sweaters made a brief appearance again on Feb. 3, 2015, with the New York Islanders wearing them for warmups for a game against the Florida Panthers.
As we mentioned back in January, the Reverse Retro would not be an exact replica of the jerseys worn during that time, but as you can see by the picture, the Fisherman logo is front and center.
Now this leak by Fanatics, whether on purpose or accidental, does not mean that these are precisely what the on-ice jerseys will look like.
The old Fisherman jersey and logo looked like this, for comparison:

As of yet, no NHL team has showcased their official Reverse Retro jerseys, with the first leakage of any Reverse Retro jersey coming on July 23, when someone shared what the Vancouver Canucks would be rocking in 2022-23.
