ELMONT, NY–Some fans have been waiting quite some time to see the New York Islanders don the Fisherman jerseys again after the organization banished them to the sun following the 1996-1997 season. Others wish that wait time could be extended 1,000 more years.

Whether you are a fan of the Fisherman Reverse Retro or not, the wait is now over, as the New York Islanders hit the ice for warmup wearing their newest sweaters:

New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal was even practicing some fishing:

The Islanders also had some cool on-ice graphic going on before the contest as well:

And the Islanders did bring back NYIsles, the Fisherman:

The New York Islanders will wear these jerseys five more times this season after Saturday:

Dec. 23 vs. Florida Panthers
Dec. 27 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
Jan. 12 vs. Minnesota Wild
Jan. 21 vs. Carolina Hurricanes
Jan. 28 vs. Vegas Golden Knights
