EAST MEADOW, NY–The New York Islanders will debut their Adidas Reverse Retro Fisherman-themed jersey this Saturday night when they host the Carolina Hurricanes.

We all knew what the jersey would look like as the New York Islanders officially released their updated fisherman swagger back on Oct. 20.

Islanders Officially Release Fisherman Reverse Retro

What we hadn’t seen yet was the rest of the outfit and at Thursday’s practice, the players broke in the Reverse Retro pants and socks, as well as the helmets and gloves. All four are navy colored, with the socks having two neon orange stripes, with white dividing them.

“It’s a cool jersey,” New York Islanders captain Anders Lee told NYI Hockey Now. “It speaks to our past. It’s part of our organization’s history, and it will be fun to bring it into a new light here in a new kind of way and have some fun with it.”

“I think they look nice,” Josh Bailey told NYI Hockey Now. “Yeah, excited to try them on. I think fans seem to like him. We’ve seen a lot of them in the stands. And yeah, I’m excited.”

The Islanders will wear these jerseys six times this season:

Dec. 10 vs. Carolina Hurricanes.
Dec. 23 vs. Florida Panthers
Dec. 27 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
Jan. 12 vs. Minnesota Wild
Jan. 21 vs. Carolina Hurricanes
Jan. 28 vs. Vegas Golden Knights

Here’s the Islanders message from the release:

As part of the New York Islanders 50th Anniversary celebration, and in partnership with the NHL and Adidas, the team launched today the 2022-23 Reverse Retro jersey, which revitalizes the Islanders’ fisherman jersey from the ‘90s with a modern interpretation. The uniform presents a powerful head-to-toe navy blue color scheme complemented by clean orange and white trims. The center crest will feature dimensional raised embroidery of the historic Islanders’ fisherman logo with teal accents in the waves and on the hockey stick.
