New York Islanders vs Philadelphia Flyers

After a 4-2 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday afternoon, the New York Islanders will be back on the ice as they play the Philadelphia Flyers Sunday. Puck drop is slated for 2 PM at Wells Fargo Center.

Backed by a Brock Nelson hat trick, the New York Islanders closed the door on a tough Dallas team and with the win extended their point streak to six games (5-0-1).

“That’s a typical islander win there,” New York Islanders head coach Barry Trotz said. “Brock getting three was really good. And then six on five, we just battled through that. So a lot of good positives.”

The New York Islanders did not hold a morning skate or any media availability prior to the game against the Philadelphia Flyers. With the way the lineup has been playing, the expectation is that there will be little to no changes.

With Semyon Varlamov getting the start against Dallas, Ilya Sorokin will be in goal against Philadelphia. Carter Hart is expected to get the start for Philadelphia.

On Saturday the Philadelphia Flyers traded their captain Claude Giroux to the Florida Panthers Flyers for top prospect Owen Tippett, along with prospects German Rubtsov and Connor Bunnaman, and a fifth-round draft pick in 2024. The Philadelphia Flyers are retaining 50-percent of Giroux’s salary.
