“Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike! What day is it, Mike?”  We have reached another Wednesday, which means we are three weeks into the free agency period and the New York Islanders and general manager Lou Lamoriello continue to work in the shadows, as they are the only team without a signing this offseason.

Check out the New York Islanders and NHL stories to know in today’s Rosner Wrap.

NYI Hockey Now: The New York Islanders faithful was freaking out a bit Monday over a potential Oliver Wahlstrom trade. Here’s what NYI Hockey Now heard back during the NHL Draft and weeks after regarding Wahlstrom. Convert Oxygen to Carbon Dioxide and breathe.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Pittsburgh Penguins and GM Ron Hextall didn’t race past the salary cap the way others did this summer but they are above the ceiling, just the same. And now comes the second part of the NHL offseason: A dozen teams trying to get under the cap, most via trade.

Boston Hockey Now: Imagine if the Boston Bruins had traded down in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and didn’t take rising star defenseman, Long Island native Charlie McAvoy with the 14th overall pick? According to a report in The Athletic on Monday, new Montreal Canadiens director of amateur scouting in the United States and former Florida Panthers amateur scout Billy Ryan did everything he could to get then-Panthers general manager Tom Rowe to trade up and take McAvoy

Washington Hockey Now: Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin possesses a number of talents. He’s the greatest goal scorer of all time and continues to hit several milestones in pursuit of the NHL’s all-time goals record; and, according to Dmitry Orlov, he also knows how to hit the high notes. Both Orlov and Ovechkin took the ice for a charity match this past week, and in an interview with sports.ru, Orlov shined light on Ovechkin’s karaoke skills.

Montreal Hockey Now: A week after Winnipeg Jets centre Pierre-Luc Dubois did his best to calm the NHL trade rumours that he wants to be traded to the Montreal Canadiens, they don’t seem to be simmering down at all. And if the Canadiens want to acquire him right now, it may cost recently the acquired Kirby Dach.

Detroit Hockey Now: Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond are as important to the Detroit Red Wings’ marketing department as they are to the coaching staff. Seider and Raymond bobblehead give-away nights are among the highlights of the Red Wings’ extensive promotional schedule released today.

Vegas Hockey Now: Welcome back to a mini-series here at Vegas Hockey Now, where we look at the Vegas Golden Knight’s current depth chart in specific positions. This series will examine the Golden Knight’s goaltending, centers, defensemen, and wingers. Here’s the story on the center depth of the Vegas Golden Knights.

San Jose Hockey Now: What is going on at the University of Michigan? Law firm WilmerHale released an investigative report today, commissioned by the university, into potential COVID protocol violations, gender-based discrimination, and abuses of power by head coach Mel Pearson at Michigan’s men’s ice hockey program. Two San Jose Sharks goalies have been fighting to make things better at the University of Michigan.

Vancouver Hockey Now: Tuesday morning the Vancouver Canucks announced the hiring of Marko Torenius as the club’s Goaltending Development Coach and Goaltending Coach for the Abbotsford Canucks.

Calgary Hockey Now: What a Tueday for the Calgary Flames. After an offseason that spiraled early, Flames GM Brad Treliving has been knocking items off his to-do list with gusto. Hours after announcing a deal to keep defenceman Oliver Kylington out of arbitration, the Flames settled with winger Andrew Mangiapane. On the eve of the release of each side’s arbitration demands, no less
