Tanner Jeannot, New York Islanders, Nashville Predators

Another day, another big-time win over the Winnipeg Jets for the New York Islanders, a 4-0 victory on Sunday evening.

We are now just four days away from the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline.

Before we get to the New York Islanders and NHL stories to know for today, the Nashville Predators made an announcement today.

The only man to ever hold the position as general manager for the Nashville Predators, Dave Poile, announced Sunday that he will be retiring following the season and that former Islanders head coach Barry Trotz will be his successor.

Trotz’s first head coaching opportunity came with the expansion Predators in 1997, a team he coached for 15 seasons (1998-2013).

Since we are on the topic of the Islanders and Predators…

NYI HOCKEY NOW

In this latest edition of Trade Deadline Buzz, a league source has told NYI Hockey Now that the Nashville Predators and New York Islanders are in serious talks.

After a 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Friday night, the New York Islanders bounced back Sunday afternoon as they defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-0.

Per a trusted source, the New York Rangers are hammering out the framework for a deal involving Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane. Sounds like it could be one that favors the Rangers:

Per a league source, Patrick Kane has “no interest” in joining the New York Islanders, and that makes sense.

NHL:  Can you believe the return the Nashville Predators got from the Tampa Bay Lightning Tanner Jeannot?

Philly Hockey Now:  After Saturday’s 7-0 loss in New Jersey, Philadelphia Flyers coach John Tortorella said he has to do a better job preparing his team, and getting his players to have a defense-first mentality.

Montreal Hockey Now: The Montreal Canadiens weren’t as quiet as initially thought, flipping Evgenii Dadonov to the Dallas Stars in exchange for forward Denis Gurianov.

Washington Hockey Now: The Washington Capitals fell apart against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday as they failed to build off their win against the New York Rangers.

Colorado Hockey Now: If there had been a way to bet on Jack Johnson returning to the Colorado Avalanche this season, a lot of fans probably would have just won some money.

LA Hockey Now: After the Los Angeles Kings lost to the New York Rangers on Sunday, head coach Todd McLellan wasted no time in diagnosing the problem.
