Bettman Announces Islanders to Host 2027 ‘All-Star Style’ Event

Gary Bettman announced the New York Islanders and UBS Arena will host a 2027 All-Star event, with an unknown format that is still being worked out.
The announcement came during Bettman’s annual but unofficially termed State of the NHL Address, held two hours before the Stanley Cup Final begins.
The State of New York, under Governor Kathy Hochul, demanded that the NHL give the Islanders an event after the league cancelled the 2026 All-Star Game. The league instead opted for an “Olympic Send-Off,” another event with no current format.
The Islanders have yet to comment on the matter. Elsewhere in his address, Bill Daly and Bettman confirmed the NHL will not address the state tax income issue some teams have raised, thanks to a perceived advantage in contracts for teams in Florida and Nevada. In New York, the Islanders could be at a disadvantage, though they’ve never publicly commented on the matter.
