New York Islanders, Florida Panthers

SUNRISE, FLORIDA–The New York Islanders (2-3-0) are back in action Sunday night, as they face the Florida Panthers (3-1-1) for the second of a back-to-back here in Florida. Puck drop is slated for 5 PM ET at Florida Live Arena.

The New York Islanders outplayed the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night, but their mistakes ended up in the back of the net as they fell 5-3.

Lambert’s Separation of Romanov & Dobson: Matchup Sensitive, Struggling Duo

The Islanders did not skate Sunday morning, but Lane Lambert shared that Josh Bailey will be back in the lineup after being a healthy scratch Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Lane would not share who he was coming in for but the expectation is that it’s for Nikita Soshnikov, who played pretty poorly Saturday night.

With Ilya Sorokin playing against the Lightning, Semyon Varlamov is likely to make his second start of the young season. He turned aside 28 of 30 shots against in a 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks this past Tuesday.

The Islanders lost 3-1 in their season opener against the Florida Panthers on UBS Arena ice and now have the chance to get even with the Cats tonight.

Per Florida Panthers head coach, Spencer Knight will start in goal against the Islanders.
