What an exciting NHL Trade Deadline Day it was for 31 NHL clubs. That 32nd NHL team, the New York Islanders, stood pat at the trade deadline but were not without roster moves. New York Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello extended the contracts of forwards Cal Clutterbuck and Zach Parise. He addressed the media to discuss those moves and the state of the team.

The 2022 NHL Trade Deadline came and went and at 3 PM ET the New York Islanders were one of two NHL teams to not make any trades.. Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello had a few pending UFA’s that he could have moved for draft picks, but he stood pat. However, Lamoriello did make some roster decisions, so let’s start with that. (NYI Hockey Now)

It was late-breaking and the details were not yet known 40 minutes after the NHL trade deadline, but the Pittsburgh Penguins and GM Ron Hextall beat the NHL trade deadline and snagged Anaheim Ducks forward Rickard Rakell from the Anaheim Ducks for a pick and a prospect. (Pittsburgh Hockey Now)

Boston Bruins winger Jake DeBrusk admitted he wasn’t sure he would be in the lineup for the Bruins’ 3-2 overtime win over the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre Monday night, but he’s happy he was and he’s looking forward to hopefully helping the Boston Bruins make a Stanley Cup run this spring. (Boston Hockey Now)

When it came to the NHL Trade Deadline, the Florida Panthers made a lot of additions without too many subtractions and that made general manager Bill Zito quite happy. One of Zito’s main objectives going into the deadline was making his team as strong as possible without affecting his team’s chemistry. To do that, he wanted to add as much as he could without taking away from the team already built. (Florida Hockey Now)

It was a somewhat quiet day for the Washington Capitals as the 2022 NHL Trade Deadline came and went, as the team elected to bring in two defensively strong forwards in Marcus Johansson and Johan Larsson while shipping out Daniel Sprong and draft picks in return. MacLellan ultimately believes that the moves will help the Capitals get back to where they were at the beginning of the year. Also, the team’s acquisitions could help with a deeper playoff run to boot. (Washington Hockey Now)

For several months, all signs pointed to Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ryan Ellis missing the rest of the season because of an injury. On Monday, general manager Chuck Fletcher made it official. (Philly Hockey Now)

With the NHL Trade Deadline just an hour away, the Montreal Canadiens made a splash by trading Artturi Lehkonen to the Colorado Avalanche for 20-year old defenceman Justin Barron and a 2024 2nd round pick per Colorado Hockey Now reporter Adrian Dater. (Montreal Hockey Now)

The Vegas Golden Knights have attempted to traded forward Evgenii Dadonov and a 2024 2nd round pick to the Anaheim Ducks for defenseman John Moore and the contract of Ryan Kesler. If Kesler is placed on LTIR and Moore is sent to the minors this frees up around $3.375 in cap space for the VGK. But, there is a hold up regarding Dadonov’s modified no-trade clause. Sometimes, being traded to a new team is exciting from the jump, but for the newest San Jose Sharks goaltender Kaapo Kähkönen, it was more of a stressful start. “I was actually on the ice and they pulled me out of there, from the morning skate, and just told me I had to leave the ice. At first, I was kind of thinking that something happened to someone in my family or something, so I was scared,” the ex-Minnesota Wild goaltender shared. “But then I heard I was getting traded.” (San Jose Hockey Now)

The first question from the Vancouver Canucks fanbase to management might be, ‘how come you didn’t do much of anything on trade deadline day?’ Options were limited, the team isn’t ‘buying’ for a playoff run, the cap situation is tight, and there was no urgency to shed anyone in particular at this point. The Canucks moved some money and got younger on the blueline with Travis Hamonic going out to Ottawa and Travis Dermott coming in from Toronto on Sunday. Three-million dollars out with a right-shot, $1.5-million in with a lefty. (Vancouver Hockey Now)

Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving gave himself the flexibility to make a final move. But when Brad Richardson was claimed by the rival Vancouver Canucks, the Flames had little choice to but make one. Whether it was the one they planned or not is irrelevant now. Before the NHL trade deadline passed, the Calgary Flames added one more forward to the mix. Ryan Carpenter is on board as another grind-line option. (Calgary Hockey Now)
