Islanders Daily: Nelson Netted 37, Kane Knocked Kadri Out of Series

New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson, despite the team’s failures, had himself a career year and could be entering the 2022-23 season as the top-line center. In Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane dangerously hit Colorado Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri from behind, leading to an injury.

Brock Nelson’s 2021-22 season showcased consistent offensive production from start to finish for the New York Islanders. Even with missing nine games in the first half of the season, Nelson still led the New York Islanders in the goal department, and after COVID-10 pauses and more of a consistent schedule, Nelson continued to flourish. At this point, things are looking pretty darn dire for the Boston Bruins to start the 2022-23 NHL season for a potpourri of crappy reasons. First, captain Patrice Bergeron’s future is not edged in stone. Secondly, Brad Marchand is out for the start of next season. Montreal Canadiens prospect Joshua Roy wasn’t slated to be in the lineup when the Laval Rocket played the Springfield Thunderbirds in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final of the Calder Cup Playoffs at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, MA. As the NHL Scouting Combine continues in Buffalo, the Washington Capitals continue to gear up for what should be a busy offseason. The team not only has to address a number of free agents but also work to fill the voids left by Tom Wilson and potentially Nicklas Backstrom, whose future remains in flux. Gannon Laroque has leveled up. Following a strong year with the WHL’s Victoria Royals, Laroque joined the San Jose Barracuda for three games to finish out the AHL season. And on Jun. 1, the 18-year-old became the San Jose Sharks’ first 2021 draft pick, outside of seventh-overall selection William Eklund, to earn an NHL contract. (San Jose Hockey Now)
