Good morning and happy Friday! Will the Stanley Cup winner be crowned tonight? The Colorado Avalanche hold a three-to-one series lead. Puck drop is at 8 PM ET in Colorado.

Where were you for Game 6 of the 2021 Semi-Finals between the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Islanders? What are the Vegas Golden Knights up to? Patrice Bergeron returning to the Boston Bruins for one more season?

These stories and more in today’s daily links!

NYI Hockey Now: A year ago Thursday, New York Islanders forward Anthony Beauvillier scored the game-winning overtime goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning to force a Game 7 in the semi-finals. It was the last goal, last game ever played on Nassau Coliseum ice, as the New York Islanders left for UBS Arena.

Montreal Hockey Now: Pierre-Luc Dubois didn’t like Columbus too much, so they shipped him to Winnipeg. Oops. Dubois is again entering the NHL trade rumors; Elliotte Friedman reports he informed Winnipeg that he wouldn’t sign an extension. Enter the Montreal Canadiens.

Boston Hockey Now: The Boston Bruins and their fans got some potentially great news late Thursday night. According to longtime Bruins beat reporter Joe McDonald of the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron will be signing an incentive laden, one-year contract with the Bruins.

Philly Hockey Now: The Philadelphia Flyers are captain-less and newly hired head coach John Tortorella said he has to get to know the players before he makes a decision on who will wear the “C” for the organization. Will it be Sean Couturier? How about Cam Atkinson? Scott Laughton?

Florida Hockey Now: When new Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice resigned from his post with the Winnipeg Jets, he cited a loss for the love of the game and his team needing a new voice as reasons why he left. But now, he is excited to get going with Florida, as they have reignited his passion for hockey, writes Colby Guy.

Detroit Hockey Now: Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond was wanting to play for Sweden at the August IIHF World Junior Championship. Swedish coach Tomas Monten was wanting to include Raymond as part of his squad. The Detroit Red Wings said no.

Washington Hockey Now: For the Washington Capitals, summer will be a tough time going forward. And that goes beyond 2022 given their salary cap situation and team needs.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Pittsburgh Penguins GM Ron Hextall has earned a reputation during his time in front offices around the NHL. People familiar with his work regard him as studious. Dedicated. Patient. Very patient. So will he be making a bold move this offseason?

Vegas Hockey Now: The Vegas Golden Knights have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to re-sign Reilly Smith to a three-year contract. The deal in question is said to be within the $5 million range. The news was first reported by Frank Seravalli from the Daily Faceoff.

Colorado Hockey Now: Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper was not too thrilled after Game 4, as he argued that the Colorado Avalanche had too many men on the ice when they scored the overtime goal. He made that clear to the media, before walking out on his postgame press conference failing to take any questions. Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar was asked about the too-many-men situation.

San Jose Hockey Now: Let’s take a day off from San Jose Sharks GM speculation – things have gone very quiet on that front. Instead, let’s have some fun: What will the Sharks’ Reverse Retro jersey look like next year?

Vancouver Hockey Now: Hockey’s most famous twins and Vancouver Canucks legends Daniel and Henrik Sedin will find out Monday whether they’ll be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2022. It would be fitting if they went in together, but it’s possible one could be voted in and the other not. Goaltender Roberto Luongo is also being considered.
