Stuffed, Gm 22: Islanders vs. Blue Jackets, Two Players Missing, Betting Odds & More
After a 3-0 shutout victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday, the New York Islanders are back in action Friday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Puck drop is slated for 8 PM ET at Nationwide Arena.
This is a first of a back-to-back for both teams as the Islanders host the Flyers Saturday, with the Blue Jackets taking a trip to Nashville to face the Predators.
The New York Islanders held an optional morning skate, with two players missing in Kyle Palmieri (day-to-day, upper-body) and Adam Pelech (undisclosed).
Palmieri missed the contest on Wednesday, as Simon Holmstrom made his NHL debut.
New York Islanders head coach Lane Lambert shared that Palmieri did not make the trip to Columbus and that Pelech took his option. The expectation is that Pelech will play tonight.
Although nothing has been shared regarding an injury to Pelech, he has not looked quite like himself this season.
Ilya Sorokin, fresh off a 49-save shutout over the Oilers was the first goaltender off the ice as he will make his 15th start of the season. He’s 2-1-0, with a 1.98 GAA and a .930 SV% and one shutout in three career games against Columbus.
For Columbus, head coach Brad Larsen told the media that Joonas Korpisalo would be in goal against the Islanders. The last time these two teams met, Korpisalo allowed four goals on 46 shots in the Islanders’ 4-3 overtime win.
