New York Islanders

After dropping both games of a back-to-back this past weekend, the New York Islanders (28-27-9) are in Columbus to face the Blue Jackets (32-29-5) on Tuesday. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM ET.

The New York Islanders are four points behind the Blue Jackets in the standings with two games in hand. Although the chances of either of the two teams making the postseason is slim, this should make for a good game in Columbus.

The New York Islanders were on the ice for morning skate on Tuesday but did not complete line rushes per Newsday’s Andrew Gross.

But Sebastian Aho, who missed Sunday’s contest which led to an emergency recall of defenseman Grant Hutton, was black on the ice.

Aho and Ross Johnston stayed on the ice after the skate, which means that Hutton remains in the lineup and Kieffer Bellows draws back in.

Netminder Semyon Varlamov was the first goaltender off the ice as he will start against Columbus.

On Sunday, netminder Ilya Sorokin was forced to leave the contest after two periods of play as head coach Barry Trotz stated that he had an upper-body injury. He is feeling much better and could return later this week if he is feeling okay. He will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.

Goaltender Cory Schneider has been recalled from Bridgeport (AHL).

Matt Martin will skate in his 800th career NHL game Tuesday, his 668th as a member of the New York Islanders.
