This will be a rather unique preseason for the New York Islanders.
This upcoming preseason will be the first time that UBS Arena will host any preseason games. Although we do not know the start date for the 2022-23 NHL season, it’s never too shabby to end the practice run against your arch-rivals.
Since 2017, the Islanders have played the Rangers annually in Bridgeport, but that streak will be coming to an end with games being played at their home arena.
It will also be the first time since 2017 that the Islanders will not play any games in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the home of their AHL affiliate.
NYI Hockey Now has learned that the 2022-23 regular-season schedule will be released on July 7, day one of the 2022 NHL Draft. We may get certain information regarding the home opener or first game of the season prior to that date, as we will keep you updated.
