New York Islanders
My name is Andrew, and I’m the new writer covering the New York Islanders
Hello,
My name is Andrew Fantucchio, and I’m the new lead writer here at NYI Hockey Now.
You can follow me on Twitter @A_Fantucchio.
If my name seems familiar to you, that may be because you’ve heard my work as the lead producer and reporter for the New York Islanders radio network this past season. I learned a lot in that role, and I certainly couldn’t have done it alone, but most importantly, it gave me my first taste of reporting from within an NHL locker room.
Now, as I take on this new position, I’m ready to use everything I learned to bring you the best coverage of the New York Islanders I possibly can.
A little bit about myself; I’m a soon-to-be senior attending Hofstra University majoring in journalism with a concentration in sports media and a minor in psychology. I’ve served as the lead sports editor for the Hofstra Chronicle and will also be working as a writer and reporter for the Cape Cod Baseball League this summer.
One thing I feel I must admit is that I’m not from Long Island. I grew up in Boston, and I genuinely believe that the city’s intense passion for sports is what first made me interested in pursuing a career as a sportswriter. While my friends got their sports fixes from television or videos online, I consumed articles as if they were the sustenance that kept me breathing and sought out stories from the greats of this industry in hopes of one day being like them.
I don’t dare say that I’m at that level yet. But I do believe that this new position will help me get there.
Thank you to Dan Kingerski and the rest of the National Hockey Now team for this opportunity. And to those who have helped me reach this point, thank you, and I love you.
Sincerely yours,
Andrew
