The dog days of the NHL offseason are upon us.

The New York Islanders are still actively on the hunt for a partner to work out a trade with to free up cap space. Until the Islanders are essentially in a holding pattern.

The main objective for the New York Islanders is to re-sign star forward Mathew Barzal to a new deal. With that in mind, I examined what type of deal the Islanders are looking to ink Barzal at considering the current circumstances surround the NHL at the moment. (NYI Hockey Now)

Trevor Daley retired on Monday and had already lined up a post-playing career gig. Daley, who was a big contributor to the Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup runs in 2016 and 2017, will join the Pittsburgh front office as a hockey operations advisor.
